ABOUT

Thompson Literary LLC was formed in 2014 by Meg Thompson.

Meg started in publishing in 2002, working closely with President Bill Clinton in his Harlem office as a researcher and fact checker on his memoirs, My Life. She then joined LJK Literary Management, LLC in 2005. She worked at LJK for six years, becoming a senior agent in only 2 years, before founding her own agency with Susanna Einstein, the Einstein Thompson Agency.

After three successful years at Einstein Thompson, Meg decided to launch her own agency, Thompson Literary LLC. In this exciting new venture, Meg and her colleagues will continue to be attentive to their clients’ needs for the life of their books, from developing ideas and editing manuscripts, to placing books with the best publishers, to working with the publisher on all aspects of a project, including editorial, design, marketing, publicity, and sales.

Thompson Literary represents a diverse list of authors. The agency is always on the lookout for both commercial and literary fiction, as well as young adult and children’s books. Nonfiction, however, is our specialty, and our interests include biography, memoir, music, popular science, politics, social justice, adult illustrated, cookbooks, sports, health and wellness, fashion, art, design, and popular culture.

Starting with the solid client base she brings from her tenure at LJK Literary and the Einstein Thompson Agency, Meg is dedicated to working with writers over the course of their careers. With that goal in mind, she and her colleagues are selectively seeking both new and established writers for whom they can be passionate advocates.

Thompson Literary Agency wants to ensure that their clients’ books reach the widest audience possible, and to that end they are attentive to opportunities in subsidiary rights, including film/tv, audio, serial, and translation rights, which are adeptly handled by Sandy Hodgman.

Meg Thompson is a member of the Association of American Literary Agents, The Women’s Media Group, the New York Public Library’s Young Lions, and she was recently named an Innovator Fellow by the Tribeca Film Festival’s Disruptor Foundation.
